Schulze Pollmann Pianos

J&M Pianos are proud to be the UK distributor for Schulze Pollmann, one of Europe's most prestigious piano manufacturers.

Schulze Pollmann was formed in 1928 by the merger of two Germany piano builders that had moved to Italy. The founding partner, Paul Pollmann, worked for many years with Ibach in Barmen and with Steinway & Sons in Hamburg before opening his own piano factory at Unna.

In 1923 the new factory was transferred to Turin, and at almost the same time, another renowned piano builder from Germany, Schulze of Zwickau, moved to Bolzano in northern Italy. The two companies merged in 1928 to create Schulze Pollmann, managed until 1942 by Paul Pollmann, whose son, Hans Pollmann, was the technical director of the company from the 1950's till the 1970's.

With the skills of the craftsmen employed by the company and the use of advanced computerized machinery, capable of guaranteeing an extremely high level of precision and reliability at all stages of the production process, Schulze Pollmann is now one of Europe's foremost piano builders.

The origins of Schulze Pollmann make it easy to understand why the company's instruments are famed for the robustness, durability and full, mellow tones that are commonly associated with the great German tradition of piano building. Whilst fully respecting these time-honored characteristics, Schulze Pollmann has successfully managed to add original elements of Italian taste and design, producing a remarkable blend of tradition, technology and elegance.

Schoenhut Toy Pianos

J&M Pianos are also the European Distributor for Schoenhut Toy Pianos. Schoenhut are the oldest toy piano maker in the world dating back to 1872. In addition to the traditional chime bar pianos Schoenhut also have manufactured the first half Size Grand piano for children to the same specification as a real piano – a roller action, three treble strings and an iron frame.

PianoDisc Systems

Our PianoDisc technician trained at the PianoDisc factory in Lichtenfels, Germany and we are an approved PianoDisc and QuietTime workshop. These systems can be retrofitted to all the pianos we sell or to your own acoustic Grand or Upright Piano.

Reconditioned Japanese Pianos

We offer Yamaha and Kawai professional upright and grand pianos which are completely overhauled in our workshop to the condition of a brand new piano using only the best materials. These are excellent value and cost less than half the price of a comparable new model, sounding as good, if not better than a brand new piano.

These pianos are distinctive due to their high quality manufacture and tone. We choose every piano personally which is then imported directly from Tokyo, Japan and then reconditioned in our workshop.

We also undertake full rebuilds of Antique Pianos - Steinway, Bechstein, Bluthner etc., which are carefully restored in our workshop to A1 standard.
